Let Your Light Shine

The light that is within me is within you
The light that shines on the moon to make it bright shines on you too
You are Light, Love, Energy, Colour and Spirit
Don’t let anything cast a shadow on that beautiful light within
Light – yours and mine is what lights up the world.

It’s Deepavali/Diwali, a beautiful festival celebrated to show the victory of Good over Evil, Light over Darkness. May you uncover the light within you and shine bright so the whole world can see you and they can be inspired to do the same.

Happy Deepavali 😊

Everything I do, I do with Love

We are living in a world that is filled with marketing that triggers fear. How many times have we turned on the television to see an advertisement on how to prevent a disease and it has filled us with the thought “what if that was me?”. So, we listen to everything that is being fed to us from a place of fear and we start implementing it in our lives because we don’t want to get that disease.

What if we applied the principles/diet etc., that we were drawn to from a place of love instead? How do we do this?

Take something really simple, like applying sun screen. Why do you apply sun screen? You may have seen advertisements, read research talking about how bad UV rays are for the skin, causing skin cancer etc. So, you are applying sun screen.

Applying sun screen is the right thing to do and this can be done with Love, instead of fear. You could apply sun screen because you love yourself and you want to look after your body. Feel the fear of future leaving you. Do what you have to do with love, in this case apply sun screen out of love for yourself. When you do this, you will no longer think destructive thoughts about yourself. Life becomes more peaceful.

When we love ourselves, we do everything with kindness towards ourselves and towards others. Choosing love over fear always works wonders because this puts us in a positive frame of mind. It frees us from negative emotions, leaving us feeling love towards ourselves. What a wonderful place to be!!

Resentment, criticism, guilt and fear cause more problems than anything else

How many of us have experienced resentment by others or towards others? We have all been criticised, have carried guilt and have been fearful for ourselves or others.

All these feelings when they stay within our thoughts can cause problems in our body and in our lives. Louise Hay in her book ‘You Can Heal Your Life’ says “These feelings come from blaming others and not taking responsibility for our own experiences. You see, if we are all responsible for everything in our lives then, there is no one to blame.”

She goes on to say, “If you find yourself saying ‘Everyone always does such and such to me, criticises me, is never there for me, uses me like a doormat, abuses me,’ then this is YOUR PATTERN. There is some thought within you that attracts people who exhibit his behaviour. When you no longer think that way, they will go elsewhere and do that to somebody else. You will no longer attract them.”

Some of these patterns can manifest at a physical level as dis-ease. Dis-ease means that the body is not in its natural state of ease. Louise Hay has a table in her book “You Can Heal Your Life” where she has listed many diseases and their probable cause, as well as a positive thought pattern which is called affirmation. Repeating the affirmation over and over again, will help in clearing negative thought patterns from our mind and give permission to our body to heal. Here’s an example.

Problem: Sore Throat
Probable Cause: Holding in angry words. Feeling unable to express the self
New Thought Pattern (Affirmation): I release all restrictions, and I am free to be me.

Over the last eight weeks, we have been talking a lot about thoughts. How powerful thoughts are – your thought and my thought; and how we can change it to make our life better. You may have tried some of the things I have been talking about and have experienced it yourself. If not, why not try them now? Think good thoughts about yourself. Just like how you would take a walk, go for a run or take a gym-class to build your physical strength, you need to build your mental, emotional and spiritual strength. That is what Heal Your Life is all about. It looks at all aspects of life – Mind, Body, Emotion and Spirit.

Since you are the master of your mind, all it takes is courage to change one thought at a time. Since you are living in this temple of your body, you can eat good foods and exercise to keep your physical body healthy. Since you are the owner of your emotions, you can change your attitude towards life and feel that change across your emotional space. You will learn to cope better with all life experiences. And all this is not possible without connecting with that which created all of us – the Universe. You can call this God, Spirit, Cosmos, Universe, Energy, Light. It’s all the same. If you are connected with yourself in the Now, with the people in your life then, you are connected with the Universe because you are doing this with Love.

In the infinity of life where I am, all is perfect, whole and complete.
I believe in a power far greater than I am that flows through me every moment of every day.
I open myself to the wisdom within, knowing that there is only One Intelligence in this Universe.
Out of this One Intelligence comes all the answers, all the solutions, all the healings, all the new creations.
I trust this Power and Intelligence, knowing that whatever I need to know is revealed to me, and that whatever I need comes to me in the right time, space and sequence.
All is well in my world.
- Louise Hay

We can change our attitude to the past

20/9/2017

Previously, we have explored how our thoughts create our future. It is worth remembering that our present has been created by our past.

Louise Hay, in her book “You Can Heal Your Life” says “The past is over and done with. We cannot change that now. Yet we can change our thoughts about the past. How foolish for us to punish ourselves in the present moment because someone hurt us in the past.”

She goes on to say “If we choose to believe we are helpless victims and that it’s all hopeless, then the Universe will support us in that belief, and we will just go down the drain. It is vital that we release these foolish, outmoded, negative ideas and beliefs that do not support us and nourish us.”

Sit quietly for a few moments and think how your day is going. When you notice something that hasn't been pleasant, think back to see if there is a pattern here. For example, if your children have been quite trying today then, think how you are dealing with them. Is it the same way you were brought up? It’s no use saying I was brought up this way and so my children should be too. Remember that the world is very different today in comparison to when you were a child. So, do you want to repeat the pattern that you picked up from your parents? Or would you like to be flexible and flowing; and make an effort to change your attitude to the present so you and your children can have a better future? Think back also to the belief that “We choose our parents”. What is it that your children have to learn from you? How can you support them?

Changing our thoughts is a choice. Nobody can force us to do it. Nothing is constant but change, and that is the one thing we are all vary of. Change will happen anyway – sometimes, we are forced to change the way we live when we encounter illness or loss of job. But, isn’t it better to change our attitude towards our lives right here, right now instead of waiting for an event by which we are forced to change?

In the infinity of life, where I am, all is perfect, whole and complete.
I am willing to change my attitude to my past.
I am creating a glorious future for me by letting go of that which I no longer need.
I am flexible and flowing.
All is well, and so it is.

Next week, I will be sharing the last article in this Heal Your Life series. We will be looking at how “Resentment, criticism, guilt and fear cause more problems than anything else”.

The only thing we are ever dealing with is a thought and a thought can be changed

14/9/2017

Louise Hay, in her book You Can Heal Your Life says “No matter what the problem is, our experiences are just outer effects of inner thoughts. Even self-hatred is only hating a thought you have about yourself. You have a thought that says ‘I’m a bad person’. This thought produces a feeling, and you buy into the feeling. However, if you don’t have the thought, you won’t have the feeling. And thoughts can be changed. Change the thought, and the feeling must go.”

What thought are you thinking as you are reading this? Are there any thoughts of lack or limitation? If so, recognise it for what it is – an old belief/fear; and then, say “out you go”. Replace it with a thought that is coming from a place of love. We all admire things – some that may be in our home; others that may be in art galleries; or a beautiful sunset; or a wonderful holiday memory etc. If a thought makes you happy then, it is coming from a place of love. So, replace the old, outdated, fearful thought with a thought stemming from love -  this love that you have for yourself and for others.

As I mentioned in last week’s blog, the point of power is always in the present moment. Let’s not give in to fear. Let’s stay with love. Come on, you can do it – one thought at a time. Notice how liberating it is to move from fear to love. You wouldn’t want to be anywhere else with your thoughts, but with love. See how beautifully this reflects in your life.

In the infinity of life, where I am, all is perfect, whole and complete.
I am willing to change my thoughts from fear to love.
Changing my thoughts makes me feel good.
My world is beautiful.
All is well in my world.

Next week, I will be writing about “We can change our attitude to the past.”

The Point Of Power Is Always In The Present Moment

6/9/2017

Everything that we are experiencing today is because of thoughts or beliefs that we have held in the past – yesterday, last week, last year, 20 years ago and so on.

We cannot change our past. We have all learnt many valuable lessons from that time in our lives. However, the past is done and over. Do we want to continue punishing ourselves for something that someone said or did to us in the past? If we allow that pattern to continue, we are adding fuel to negative thinking. Instead, don’t we want to build a better future and direct our energies towards that?

Every thought that you are thinking today is creating your tomorrow. So, are you willing to create a future based on thinking that supports your journey from this moment on? Or are you willing to stay stuck in old beliefs and thoughts? It is a choice that only you can make. Letting go of old baggage is the key to moving forward with a spring in your step.

I invite you to find a quiet time in your day for this forgiveness exercise. Sit comfortably and close your eyes. Take a few deep breaths. With every breath that you inhale, open yourself up to letting go of unwanted thoughts. Sit quietly and allow thoughts from the past to come to you. People, places and things. As you remember each person from your past, say to them (mentally or out loud) “I forgive you for not being the way that I wanted you to be. I forgive you and I set you free.” Forgive yourself too so you can let go of all the guilt that you have been carrying.

Only by forgiving others can we move forward. We don’t have to forgive others because they need forgiveness but, because we want to be free to move forward.

Feel powerful in this moment, this moment that you are creating your glorious future. You are the only power within your mind. Seize the opportunity to build a better tomorrow.

In the infinity of life, where I am, all is perfect, whole and complete.
The past is over and done and has no power over me.
I am willing to be free in this moment.
Today’s thoughts are creating my future.
I am in charge. I now take my own power back.
I am safe and I am free.
All is well in my world.

Next week, I will explore the belief “The only thing we are ever dealing with is a thought and a thought can be changed.”

We Choose Our Parents

1/9/2017

Continuing the Heal Your Life article series - In loving memory of Louise Hay (1926 - 2017)

We are all in this world for spiritual evolution. To enable us to do this, we choose the life we want to live, to learn the lessons that we want to learn, by choosing the parents that can help us with these lessons.

Louise Hay in her book “You can Heal Your Life” says, “Our visits to this planet are like going to school. If you want to become a mechanic, you go to mechanics school. If you want to become a lawyer, you go to law school. The parents you picked this time around are the perfect couple who are experts in what you have chosen to learn.”

Take a look at your life and see all the times you have blamed your parents for your life i.e., “You did this to me!” but this was what you came here to learn and they are just supporting you in your evolution.

Try this exercise and learn to see your parents with eyes full of love.

“Sit comfortably and close your eyes. Take some nice deep breaths. Imagine yourself as a five-year-old child. There is only one thing this child wants and that is love. Embrace this child and tell him/her how much you love her.

Now, imagine your mother as a little girl. She is looking for love. Reach out your arms and hold this little child. Tell her you love her.

Next, imagine your father as a young boy. He too only needs love. Hug this little boy and tell him you love him.

Now, visualise all the three little children in your heart playing with each other. They all love each other and are very loving and happy.”

Whatever your past may be, there can always be a better today and an even better tomorrow. Let go of all the blame that you may have for your parents. They are just like you, doing their best with the knowledge and understanding they have. See them as little children through your loving eyes.

In the infinity of life, where I am, all is perfect, whole and complete.
I am willing to see my parents as little children who need love.
I am grateful to my parents for supporting me on my life’s journey.
I love my parents.
All is well in my world.

Next week, we will look into “The point of power is always in the present moment”.

Until then, Namaste xx

When we are very little, we learn about ourselves and about life by the reactions of adults around us

What do you remember about your childhood? Was it filled with love and joy? Was your household a tense one? Were you told that you are loved?

We all have varied experiences as children. One thing is for sure – our parents and care givers did the best they could with the knowledge and awareness they had at that time. So, let me make it clear that we are not blaming our parents.

What I am talking about is we would have conditioned our thoughts based on our childhood experiences. If these thoughts are positive and uplifting then, let’s cherish them. If the thoughts are not of any benefit to us on our positive thinking journey then, it’s time to let go of them.

You may be wondering why I am talking about changing our thoughts each time I blog about Heal Your Life. Well, that is the basis of creating a beautiful life. Change your thought, Change your life.

If we were told “You are beautiful” then we would feel that inside and out. On the contrary if we were told “You are too short or too tall or you never do anything right” then, we will probably be feeling some discontent about that aspect of ourselves.

With the awareness that we have now that we are perfect just the way we are, let us allow those thoughts that are not serving us to leave us. Try this exercise when you have some time.

Take a paper and pen/pencil. Sit down in a comfortable position. Breathe deeply. Ask the Universe to tell you what you need to let go of. You can start with the following.  Did you have any negative messages from?
Relatives…………….
Teachers…………………….
Friends…………….
Authority figures…………….
Organised religion…………………

As the thoughts come to you, start writing them down. You may get a few lines written on that paper or you may fill it up and reach for another one! Once you feel there is nothing more to write, send a blessing to the lessons that you learned from those thoughts, tear the paper into little pieces and throw it away. Notice how you feel. Let the relief wash over you.

Letting go of unwanted thoughts that have conditioned us from our childhood is that simple and easy. You can do this exercise as frequently as you would like to.

In the infinity of life, where I am, all is perfect, whole and complete.

I am willing to let go of thoughts and beliefs that no longer serve me.
I am willing to change my thoughts.
My life is beautiful.
All is well in my world.

Next week, I will look into the belief “We choose our parents”. Namaste 😊

Many of us have rigid rules about how life ought to be lived

16/8/2017

In the third part of my series on exploring what Heal Your Life workshops are, I am going to look at why “Many of us have rigid rules about how life ought to be lived”.

Our lives today are conditioned by the beliefs that were instilled in us as young children.

For example, if we were told that it was not safe to climb that beautiful, strong tree in the front yard, we are probably saying the same to our children now. If our families believed that money was scarce and we had to save for a rainy day, we are probably not willing to utilise some of our money even today to bring us pleasure for e.g., taking a holiday or buying a beautiful painting.

What would have been true for previous generations may not be true for us now. Our lives have evolved in ways that our great-grandparents may not have perceived.

What about the miracle of technology which brings families across the world closer and in contact with each other frequently? If we had decided that technology is not for us, and that we would continue writing letters that took days or months to reach our families, who would have been disadvantaged?

Things around us will always change. You may have heard of the saying “Change is the only constant.” If this is the case, can we have rigid rules about how life ought to be lived? No! We have to move along with the ebb and flow that is life. We have to embrace change. We have to re-condition our thoughts to believe that there is always a better way of living.

Next time you are thinking something is out of your reach for e.g., a holiday in a beautiful location. Pause and think what is limiting you. Then, gently let go of that thought. Replace it with a beautiful thought like “I am willing to have a wonderful holiday.” Make it a habit to let go of limitations. Life is abundant and there is so much that we can experience if we let go of the limitations in our minds.

In the infinity of life, where I am, all is perfect, whole and complete.
I am willing to let go of old conditioning and limiting beliefs.
I am welcoming new thoughts and new ideas into my life.
I am flowing effortlessly.
All is well in my world.

Next week, I will write about the belief “When we are very little, we learn about ourselves and about life by the reactions of adults around us.”

Namaste 😊
