When we are very little, we learn about ourselves and about life by the reactions of adults around us

What do you remember about your childhood? Was it filled with love and joy? Was your household a tense one? Were you told that you are loved?

We all have varied experiences as children. One thing is for sure – our parents and care givers did the best they could with the knowledge and awareness they had at that time. So, let me make it clear that we are not blaming our parents.

What I am talking about is we would have conditioned our thoughts based on our childhood experiences. If these thoughts are positive and uplifting then, let’s cherish them. If the thoughts are not of any benefit to us on our positive thinking journey then, it’s time to let go of them.

You may be wondering why I am talking about changing our thoughts each time I blog about Heal Your Life. Well, that is the basis of creating a beautiful life. Change your thought, Change your life.

If we were told “You are beautiful” then we would feel that inside and out. On the contrary if we were told “You are too short or too tall or you never do anything right” then, we will probably be feeling some discontent about that aspect of ourselves.

With the awareness that we have now that we are perfect just the way we are, let us allow those thoughts that are not serving us to leave us. Try this exercise when you have some time.

Take a paper and pen/pencil. Sit down in a comfortable position. Breathe deeply. Ask the Universe to tell you what you need to let go of. You can start with the following.  Did you have any negative messages from?
Relatives…………….
Teachers…………………….
Friends…………….
Authority figures…………….
Organised religion…………………

As the thoughts come to you, start writing them down. You may get a few lines written on that paper or you may fill it up and reach for another one! Once you feel there is nothing more to write, send a blessing to the lessons that you learned from those thoughts, tear the paper into little pieces and throw it away. Notice how you feel. Let the relief wash over you.

Letting go of unwanted thoughts that have conditioned us from our childhood is that simple and easy. You can do this exercise as frequently as you would like to.

In the infinity of life, where I am, all is perfect, whole and complete.

I am willing to let go of thoughts and beliefs that no longer serve me.
I am willing to change my thoughts.
My life is beautiful.
All is well in my world.

Next week, I will look into the belief “We choose our parents”. Namaste 😊
